In the end, we are all the same

Last night we were all bombarded with the news coverage of the death of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. One was expected and one was a total shock. As I reflected back to being a kid, I laughed at myself as I too was influenced by both of these people. In elementary school, I was desperate to have "Farrah Fawcett" hair. I worked really hard to get that feathered look. I remember being so jealous of Emily in the fourth grade, she had the perfect feathered look:)
As for Michael, well who could forget the premier of the video Thriller. Now growing up in a small town, the fact that we were getting MTV was a miracle so the video premier was huge. We talked about it for days and we all planned and watched the big event. As a kid, I was a big fan. To this day, I have his #1 songs album on my IPOD.
But as I went to sleep, my thoughts were with the kids these two have left behind, how difficult it will be to continue on without your mom or your dad, no matter how old they are.
In the end, although they were Mega Superstars, we are all the same in God's eyes and we start and will end our lives in the same way. Race, ethnicity or money will not change that! there struggles are over now and I hope they are resting peacefully.
