Off to the Park We Go!

Aniyah headed to the park this week; its been great weather so the sitter took the girls to the park.

Drinking from a straw

We went out for a late lunch today and low and behold the girl can drink from a straw!
She was stuffing her face with mac and cheese and then she just grabbed the water and started drinking. Her dad and I were shocked; it was as if she had done it so many times before.Wow!what a face....mac and cheese filled with a drink:)

OMG!

Today at swimming lessons Gabbie had her first experience going under water. As soon as I realized what they were going to do, I looked at her dad in a panic. He was unphased which is why he is better with her in the water than I am. Before you know it she was dipped three times and she was ok with it.... I can honestly say I can go without the whole going under water thing but then why is she taking swimming lessons!

Presentation

Gabbie had homework this week that involved creating a book. In the book she cut out pictures of her favorite food and toys, where she lives as well as a picture of her parents. Now all week I teased her dad about doing homework. I mean come on Gabbie is 1! I have to admit I was a bit annoyed by the difficulty of this homework but once again my daughter shocks me. I got pictures from daycare and low and behold it looks like my baby is presenting to the class....You've got to be kidding me....she cant really talk! Nonetheless, she really is trying and I am amazed with all that she can do. It looks like I underestimated my daughter.This is priceless.

Happy Mother's Day

Swim Day

Gabbie had a substitute teacher today at her swim lessons and for whatever reason she really liked her. She ditched her dad to hang out with the teacher. Her dad's feelings were really hurt; poor thing...he better get used to it. Gabbie really is enjoying the water.Each week she gets more and more comfortable and it is pretty cool to watch.

Education begins

We have been very pleased with our childcare provider and this week is one more reason why we really feel blessed to have Gabbie under her care. Gabbie began her school lessons yesterday, working with the letter A. She knew she was dealing with an airplane but she had a little trouble figuring out where to put it on her worksheet. she can make some pretty cool flying sounds, lol. Gabbie also got homework this week. She is working on tracing the letter A. Wow, she is 13 months and already learning the alphabet!

Busy Weekend

On Saturday, Gabbie and I headed to her swimming lessons. It was my turn to get into the pool with her. It was pretty cool hanging out with her in the water. She really enjoys the class. After class we ran some errands, then I got ready for the prom....yes the prom! As an assistant principal, one of my duties is chaperoning the prom. Last year I missed it because I was on maternity leave so this was my first prom since my own a long long long time ago:) I had a fun time even though I had to police all the bumping and grinding dancing...ugh! The kids looked great, even though there were some questionable dresses that made me think to myself, " did your momma see you leave looking like that!" Nonetheless everyone looked nice and they all had a great time. Now that I am older, I look back fondly on these events and I look forward to sharing them with Gabbie. I know that will be here before I want it to be.
