Harder Than I Thought

This week I have been struggling with the day that I go back to work. It seems the 11th is fast approaching so I have decided to take an extra week. At this time, I plan on going back the 18th. Tomorrow, I will go in and tell the principal. I'm certain he wont be thrilled but he will understand. Honestly, the thoughts of not returning until June have crossed my mind but I dont want to push my luck. Leaving her at a sitter is going to be alot harder than I thought.

Sunday Visit

The weather was great this weekend so Aniyah and I were able to do some running around. On Sunday, we went to visit our great friends the Hodsons. According to Grace, their daughter, she and Aniyah are cousins; she's right....we really do view ourselves like family. Grace is 3 and loves to hold Aniyah. She is quite the little helper. Shortly after we arrived, she went and put on her tu-tu for us. She's great!

A Visit to School

Today we made a visit to school. Everyone was so excited to meet Aniyah. Although I tried to avoid students, we still ran into a few, who just thought she was adorable. We stayed about 2 hours and caught up on what has happened while I have been on maternity leave. I am looking forward to going back to work but I am NOT looking forward to leaving her at the sitter. We have two weeks before that occurs so I am taking it all in and enjoying it all. She has been asleep for a couple of hours; all the people looking at her, tired her out:)

Getting Back in Shape

I have started back with my trainer and today I was able to work up a good sweat. I got really tired towards the end and I didnt complete the last section of cardio due to my lightheadness. I didnt help matters by not eating before I went. Aniyah slept through most of the workout so she is being very cooperative. We will go back tomorrow and I will remember to eat before I pass out. Getting back in shape is the worst. It reminds me of my high school days - the preconditioning stuff before each season; ugh! I hated those days but it sure felt good once you got over the hump and back in shape; its the getting there that stinks!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Indiana has gotten quite a bit of rain this month. We average 1 1/2 inches during April but this year we are already at 4inches. We will get more today and tomorrow, which means Aniyah and I will be held up at home until the weather breaks.
We look forward to Thursday where it will be 70 degrees and by Friday it will be at least 80! Whew hew a heat wave!!

Shot Survival

Aniyah had her 1month dr. visit today and she had 1 shot. She did quite well; better than her mom. I shed more tears than she did:) She took the shot in her thigh and she did not cry very long at all. She was a real trooper. Aniyah now weighs 9lbs 9ozs and is 21 1/2 long. Wow, she's grown alot in 2weeks. We go back to the doctor in a month where she will get multiple shots. I am so dreading that!
We also got pictures taken today. My good friend's daughter, Grace, picked out these "pretty dresses" and so we wore one of those dresses today in her honor. Aniyah fell asleep on the way to the photographer, but she did very well through the whole portrait session. I am excited to share the pictures when they come in on the 28th.

Training resumes

Finally, today the weather was good. The sun actually came out! The big activity today was me going back to my personal trainer. We are starting out with 30 minute sessions and gradually I will move back up to hour sessions. It was good to workout again and I am so ready to get rid of this gut! Aniyah slept through the whole thing so that helped out alot. We go back next Tuesday and Thursday of next week.
Tomorrow is shot day....I am very nervous and unsure of how she will react. Hopefully it wont be too painful.
Today, in honor of the sunny day, she had on a bright yellow outfit. She was my little sunshine:)

Poop Disaster!

So we had our first poop disaster...I have never seen so much poop come out of someone so small! She had it coming out of everything, her diaper, her bellybutton. She had it on her stomach and going down her leg....geesh! and to top it off, while I was changing her she decided to take a tinkle. It was as if she was saying, " and take that Mom." To say the least, this diaper change was messy and smelly, but what is a mom to do. There some things you just have to laugh at and this is one of them.

Easter Celebration

Easter was pretty laid back; I am still too overprotective to take her into large crowds so we did not go to church. She did however sport her Easter outfit, shoes, hair barrette and all:) I look forward to the Easters to come filled with Easter egghunts and baskets filled with all the goodies. As well, this Easter I was especially grateful for the birth of my daughter and the rebirth of my life which has taken a totally new and blessed direction.
Today is rainy and cold so we will be hanging out at home being lazy.

Saturday errands

We were able to get out this morning and run some errands. We got pictures developed at Target. It seems she is always doing something I have to take a picture of for the album. She is awake more throughout the day, and she really likes just observing and taking in the scenery. It seems she is quite nosey:) We have made it through 3 nights of falling asleep on her own without being rocked. When I was doing that, she would wake up as soon as I laid her down. She is so darn smart! We have been working on breaking that habit. She's having an easier time than me; I cant help it; I just love holding her and often times I just stare at her in disbelief that she really is here.

Cute ladybug

We had 2 cold days but it looks like today will be much better; thank goodness. Last night was a good night, she slept from 11 to 3:30 - she ate and then slept from 4 to 8. I was so grateful for the sleep:) I have added some new pictures. She even has on her Texas Tech socks; its never too soon to get her going. When she sleeps, she doesn't mess around.

The power of technology

The last couple of days have been uneventful. Aniyah and I have been enjoying the days of sitting around and not doing much. My schedule revolves around her eating and sleeping:) I go back to work on May 11 so I am taking it all in before my time with her is shortened. The thought of it makes my stomach turn and I can actually take more time if I need to; we will see:)
Several months ago, I downloaded Skype onto my computer. I actually got the idea from watching Oprah (I'm a huge fan:~) Anyway, Skype, if you have a webcam, allows you to have conversations and see the other person, alot like video conferencing except you're on the web. My hope is that this will allow Aniyah and I to be more connected with family and friends especially as she gets older. So if you're interested you can go to www.skype.com and download the program for free. The only drawback is if you don't have a webcam, you will need to purchase one.
On a professional note, I have begun looking for job opportunities in Texas. I actually applied for several positions in Austin; we will see how that goes. My education is still up in the air so I am just trying to figure out what is best for me professionally that will help me make the most for Aniyah in the future. Keep me in your prayers for clarity on this decision.
Finally, we are getting snow tomorrow!! Monday and Tuesday the highs will be in the low 30's, needless to say we won't be going anywhere. Will spring ever get here?

2 Week Checkup

Aniyah went to her 2 week checkup today and all is well. The pediatrician agreed that it was best we went to formula. Although she has gained all her birth weight back, usually babies are a little heavier than their birth weight at this point. We will go back in 2 weeks to get shots; I am so not looking forward to that:(
Today I also got the pictures that were taken of her when she was 2 days old. We mailed those off to family and friends.
My other shock came when I called to add her to my insurance. My insurance was costing me .04 per pay period, that's right 4 cents! Now it will be 132.00 every pay period; holy mother of God..that's 264.00 a month; what the heck happened to 4 cents!!! Oh well, it is what it is. I am blessed to have a job where I can afford it.
